Proud of Stockport award for most Community Spirited Organisation - Romiley Lifecentre
Acting under the umbrella of St Chad’s Church, members of Romiley’s Lifecentre inject an enormous sense of community spirit and well-being into the lifeblood of the Werneth area - irrespective of religion, colour, race or creed - according to nominator John Rowcroft. The centre’s volunteers organise afternoon tea parties three times a year for more than 200 senior residents of the Werneth area, arranging all the transport, entertainment and refreshments. Currently some 50 ill, housebound, lonely and isolated local residents are visited regularly by the centre’s volunteers.
Romiley Lifecentre provides a range of support services for local families, including marriage guidance, counselling and a stay and play room. We also have conference and meeting rooms, a superb cafe and a Christian bookshop.
The Lifecentre is an initiative of the local church St Chads, in recognition of the need to support family life.
The Lifecentre is a social enterprise and a 'not for profit' organisation in the centre of Romiley that is dedicated to making a difference in the community through building healthy relationships.
